JENSEN CANDY COMPANY

 A Brief History

Jensen Candy Company stems from a long rich heritage of family traditions and experience in the gourmet chocolate business.  The president and owner of the company, Steven C. Jensen, started making chocolate fudge at the age of 8 back in 1958.  Instead of a lemonade stand, Steve sold his home made fudge on a street corner in Salt Lake City, Utah.  Later, as a teenager, Steve worked for the Fernwood Candy and Ice-Cream Company where he learned the art of making fine chocolates.

In 1973, with the help of a friend, Steve Jensen opened the J & H Candy Company.  The newly founded firm specialized in the manufacturing and distribution of chocolate layered sandwich mints.  The company sold bulk mints to fine gourmet candy companies throughout the U.S.   The company also distributed their fine mints in a 7 oz. box under the brand name, “LaPetite Chocolate Layered Mints.”  The LaPetite brand had a wide distribution in much of the western United States in the chain drug and department stores; including the likes of the former Fred Meyer, Skaggs Drugs, and the former Grand Central stores.  Some other retailers who carried the LaPetite Mints were Osco Drugs, King Supers, Target, Safeway, Smiths, and Rite Aid.

After nearly 20 years in the Candy Business, Steve Jensen sold the business to an award winning gourmet candy and chocolate company, Mrs. Cavanaugh’s Candies, who marketed the candy under their own name in their own stores.

Now, after years of friends, family and former associates pleading with him to start up the mint business again, Steve and his son, Sam, have re-entered the arena of gourmet chocolates under the name of Jensen Candy Company.  A new brand name was carefully selected to market the chocolate mints after months of research and consideration.  Today, the new brand name is, “Serendipity Mints.”  A surprising discovery of deliciously blended chocolate and mint, the Serendipity Mints are available in both milk and dark chocolate.  Packaged in a brilliantly colored 7 oz. box, Serendipity Mints are sure to be an exotic pleasure for discriminating chocolate lovers who delight in unsurpassed elegance of taste.
